No child should be constrained by poverty.
Poverty is devastating for children’s development, no matter where they are growing up. We work with families to break the cycle of poverty so that the most vulnerable children can reach their full potential. Our work addresses the underlying causes of child poverty: food insecurity, vulnerability to disaster-related shocks, climate change and lack of access to markets and financial services. By promoting equality, inclusiveness, and sustainable economic growth, we can help end poverty and allow at-risk children to reach their full potential.
Training, financial literacy, savings group, as well as tools and resources to build self-reliance, are keys to help hardworking people lbreakfree from poverty. With our unique community-based model, refined and expanded over our 50-year history, we’re able to offer the support that people need to get — and stay — on their feet.
We help families build knowledge, skills, and resources to support themselves.
We equip families with the knowledge and skills in producing quality and healthy food. We train families and farmers on natural agriculture farming, focusing on different plant varieties, animal breeds and seed preservation and the use of herbs according to local wisdoms We enable exchanges of best practices on safe agricultural farming within and between communities we work with.
We provide knowledge skills on financial management. We support communities to start savings groups – member-owned and community-run groups that allow people to save together in a safe, convenient and flexible way, whereby savings can be lent to members as credit. Savings is crucial for the families to be resilient in different situations such as economic crises, the health pandemic or other disasters.
We help families to have capacity to use climate-smart agricultural approaches. We encourage farmers to diversify their crops to ensure that they aren’t too reliant on one source of income that could be affected by adverse weather or a disaster. We collaborate with relevant government agencies and partners that provides technical support to farmers.
Together, we have supported people and communities to work their way out of poverty, disasters and exploitation. In 2023, this support reached 1.9 million people, including 1.7 million children, by tackling the root causes of poverty.
We won't stop fighting until every child is protected.
