During winter, families in mountainous regions and the foothills of the North and Northeast face harsh cold with extremely low temperatures. Children and vulnerable groups, often unable to afford warm clothing, are at heightened risk of cold-related illnesses such as colds, pneumonia, and other respiratory infections. Moreover, inadequate winter clothing and equipment significantly disrupt children’s learning and daily routines, preventing them from fully participating in essential activities.

The Supanimit Foundation recognizes the problem of cold weather affecting the grassroots, especially children and the elderly who need special care. Therefore, we have created the Winter Relief project “Supanimit Sends Warmth, Fights the Cold for Children 2024-2025” to help those affected by the cold in remote areas. The project focuses on helping children and families in areas affected by the cold weather from November to February, especially in December and January when the temperature drops the most , with an average low of around 10-15°C. However, in some very cold years, temperatures can drop as low as about 5°C.

This year, we will distribute large, 3-layer blankets specially designed to provide warmth in areas with extremely low temperatures. These blankets will be given to families with children and the elderly, who are most vulnerable to the cold. Additionally, winter essentials such as coats, gloves, and hats will be provided to students in remote areas, ensuring they can safely attend school during the chilly winter months in northern and northeastern Thailand, where temperatures drop significantly.
