In 2025, unrest along the Thai–Cambodian border significantly affected the lives and well-being of people living in border areas, particularly children and families. Many faced ongoing insecurity, uncertainty in their livelihoods, and heightened psychosocial vulnerability as a result of continued violence and prolonged stress in the affected areas.

In response to this situation, World Vision Foundation of Thailand, in collaboration with Plan International Thailand and UNICEF Thailand, implemented a humanitarian response project to support children and families affected by the unrest along the Thai–Cambodian border. The project focused on establishing Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) alongside the provision of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services, aiming to enhance children’s safety, development, and overall well-being.

Throughout the project implementation period, assistance reached a large number of affected individuals residing in temporary shelters, providing support to:

  • A total of 71,537 beneficiaries
  • 25,030 children (11,188 boys and 13,842 girls)
  • 46,507 adults (20,044 men and 26,463 women)

In addition, the project supported 25,294 households across 75 temporary shelters in 7 provinces along the Thai–Cambodian border affected by the unrest.

The project’s extensive reach reflects the strong collaboration among partner organizations in responding to the urgent needs of children and families in emergency settings. The intervention contributed to alleviating immediate hardships, providing safe spaces for children, and supporting mental health recovery, while also strengthening the capacity of families and communities to care for children and to better cope with future emergencies.
