After the Pabuk storm passed last January, the Office of the Basic Education Commission visited Bankonangdoi School to inspect the damages and declare the suspension of two buildings that had its roof and ceilings torn apart, in fear of exposing students to harm.
Thanks to the generous sponsors and donors who have poured out their kindness through World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT), today, a new multi-purpose building has been completed. In addition, through the collaborative effort of teachers, parents, and students of Sukhondheerawidh School and Mathayomprachaniwet School, all of whom contributed to fix the damages, the school was able to recover its former condition and readiness to provide education and safety to students.
‘So nice!’ – voiced out by a group of Bankonangdoi School students who smiled happily while admiring the new construction. All of the buildings have already been handed by Dr Sarawut Rachasrimuang, WVFT National Director, to Mrs Suphaphorn Phromkaew, Bankonangdoi School Director. The handover ceremony on the 7th of June was presided over by Mr Narong Buakaew, the Deputy District Chief, acting Pak Phanang District Chief.
Mrs Suphaphorn said with tears of happiness in her eyes, ‘WVFT arrived at our school the first day after the disaster struck and asked what kind of assistance were needed. On behalf of my students, I’d like to thank WVFT, donors, and all relevant sectors for giving good things to our school’.
Besides the school building restoration and multi-purpose building construction, Bankonangdoi School and other 17 schools in Pak Phanang and Hua Sai Project areas affected by the Pabuk storm have also been supported with 73 sets of playground equipment by WVFT.
