Recently, World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT) has conducted a “Reach & Treat” training session to provide knowledge about tuberculosis (TB) as part of the outreach to provide proactive service on the improved training and evaluation of the knowledge about AIDS, TB, and STDs among secondary school students (in the 3rd consecutive year) as of 2019, under the theme “Smart choice… You and I stay safe.” The event, held by AIDS, TB, and STDs Control Division, Health Department, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, aims for equipping secondary school students with integrated knowledge and understanding which they can appropriately apply in actual practice, at Wat Sai School, Chom Thong district, Bangkok. The school is the first of the 10 schools in BMR targeted for the activity implementation. Ms Atiporn Nilkham, the director of Wat Sai School, has presided over this event.
Providing knowledge about TB is one of the ministries under WVFT’s Stop TB and AIDS through RRTTR (STAR), supported by the Global Fund, for health promotion, with the objective to control, prevent, treat, and end TB and AIDS, the major communicable diseases which negatively impact a range of at-risk populations, eg migrants, the elderly, children, families, and communities. At the same time, the ministry contributes to the achievement of the national strategic plan.
