Our work is to ensure that migrants in Thailand access protection services and labour entitlements as stipulated in the Thai law. WVFT implements integrated services and sectoral programmes for migrant workers, integrating health, decent work, and social protection services in the fisheries, agriculture, construction and manufacturing sectors. As part of this programme, WVFT also leverages its effective training model, collaboration and engagement with community-based migrant health volunteers to conduct outreach on labour rights and referral to service providers.
To resource this multi-sector and integrated approach to service delivery, WVFT has built relationships with a range of donors and development partners including IOM, WHO, UNICEF, UNDP, ILO Winrock International, USAID, and the EU.
As an implementing partner on the USAID Thailand CTIP project, WVFT delivers capacity building for local government and NGO service providers, develops victim-centered and trauma-informed training packages, implementing guidelines on victim identification, referral, protection and investigation. With IOM, WVFT conducts awareness raising on safe migration and labour rights ; and has recently conducted research with UNDP on forced criminality in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region. WVFT has long supported the Coordinated Mekong Ministerial Initiative Against Trafficking (COMMIT) Process, including as a member of the Thailand National Steering Committee and by supporting young people develop and present policy recommendations to Senior Officials through the COMMIT process. As part of the ILO Safe and Fair Programmeme, under the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative, WVFT is also reaching women migrant workers and their families in construction camps, ensuring their rights and entitlements are protected and respected.
