Nanmeebooks and World Vision Thailand restore student learning

Supporting reading materials for 11 schools in Narathiwat, Songkhla and Nakhon Si Thammarat affected by floods

Earlier this March, Nanmeebooks Company Limited, in collaboration with World Vision Thailand, supported schools affected by the major floods at the end of November last year. The floodwaters, which rose to 2-3 metres, caused severe damage to schools in Narathiwat, Songkhla, and Nakhon Si Thammarat provinces. Classrooms, instructional materials, and especially library books were flooded and rendered unusable, depriving children of an important learning resource.

“The recent floods caused significant damage to our school. The water level rose up to the ventilation openings of the library, damaging all the library books. Additionally, the students’ learning materials were also heavily damaged, says Soonthorn Promrueangchot , Ban Muang Tham School Director.

To help restore the library for children, Nanmeebooks has sent storybooks and handwriting practice books to 11 affected schools in the southern region. This includes 7 schools in Tak Bai District, Narathiwat Province, 2 schools in Thepha District, Songkhla Province, and 2 schools in Pak Phanang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

This support is not just about providing books, but passing on opportunities and hope for children to once again have a learning resource that stimulates their imagination and develops their language skills. The books provided are colourful and packed with engaging stories, attracting children to enjoy reading and learning more.

I would like to thank the donor very much for giving us these books. I really like this one, ‘Help Me, I Want to Be Diligent,’ because I want to be diligent like the title of this book,” Sitinurai says smiling.

Similarly to Usara, “I love this book because I enjoy studying art. I would like to thank the donor very much for giving us such good books to read. Thank you.”

Although natural disasters may cause significant damage, encouragement and assistance from various sectors can help children get through difficult times. We highly hope that these reading materials will ignite children in the affected areas to resume their learning and restore their spirits, allowing them to regain their smiles and inspiration for education once again.
