In an era where the internet has become an integral part of daily life, young people can freely access information, entertainment, and online communication. However, using it without caution can lead to risks that impact their safety and privacy. For this reason, online safety is a crucial issue that should be promoted and protected.
To ensure the online protection of children and youth, the Chiang Mai Project of World Vision Thailand, an organisation working on promoting child protection, has collaborated with ECPAT Foundation Thailand and network partners to implement Y-Voice Project, which has been running from April.
For this event, the project has organised a meeting to design tools and develop a set of questions for data collection in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, and Mae Hong Son provinces. The focus is on studying online safety issues to develop the capabilities of the child network committee and representatives of the children’s council in becoming researchers to collect data on the online situation, media usage behaviours, responses to problems, and trends of issues affecting children and youth. This leads to the ideation, planning, and development of policy recommendations, as well as the presentation of research findings.
Raising awareness of online safety not only helps reduce the risks from online threats but also encourages young people to use technology wisely for the greatest benefit in the digital world.
