Because parents and caregivers are the key for children to thrive, it is essential to enhance their parenting capabilities. This not only improves child well-being but also helps create a safe, warm, and enabling environment that promotes children’s appropriate growth at every stage of life.
In earlier March, World Vision Thailand organised a ‘Celebrating Families’ workshop for families of children in its implementing areas in Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province. Over 30 families participated in the workshop, which was conducted by staff and volunteers who had completed the facilitator training course. The aim was to impart knowledge and techniques to strengthen family relationships.
The joy of learning together
This training activity provided an opportunity for children and parents to spend quality time together, exchange opinions, and understand each other better. One of the participants, Phuttida, shared her impressions.

“From the Celebrating Families activity, I felt very happy because I got to attend the training with my mother. We talked and exchanged opinions more. My favourite topic was The Love Languages because my family do not often express love through words. We mostly show it through hugs or touches. I think my mother would also like to hear the words ‘I love you’ from me. After this, I will apply what I have learned in my daily life because love does not need to be expressed only on special occasions; it can be shown every day”
Pichamon also shared her experience: “I am very thankful and happy to have attended this training. I learned many things that I can truly apply in my daily life.” Her mother added, “I feel very good about it. We will definitely apply what we have learned to our family.”

Celebrating Families is not just another training activity but a space that helps parents and children get closer, understand each other more deeply, and learn how to express love appropriately. Ultimately, the most important thing in a family is not just about family members living together but cherishing their love, understanding, and good communication. These can be built every day without waiting for any special occasion.
