On May 30, 2025, World Vision Foundation of Thailand welcomed a delegation from the Government of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and World Vision Laos on the occasion of a study visit focused on child development and protection, organised in collaboration with Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS).
This study visit is part of an effort to foster international cooperation for the exchange of knowledge and best practices in promoting child welfare, particularly for children in vulnerable situations. The discussions between the delegation from the Lao PDR and executives from MSDHS provided an opportunity to share ideas on government approaches to child protection, the development of appropriate social service systems, and the integration of child-focused work into sustainable community development.
This meeting also highlights the importance of a holistic approach to child support, such as Child Sponsorship, which has been continuously implemented by World Vision Thailand. This approach emphasises the participation of children, youth, families, communities, and partners at the local, national, and regional levels to create a friendly and safe environment that enables children and youth to grow and thrive effectively.
In addition, the delegation also learned about community-driven initiatives, which are at the heart of sustainable development. The active participation of community leaders, volunteers, and local partners ensures that child protection is not the sole responsibility of any single agency but a collective effort by all sectors of society.
This meeting was not only a platform for knowledge sharing but also a significant step toward building a regional network of cooperation aimed at improving the quality of life for children, families, and communities in both Thailand and the Lao PDR.
World Vision Thailand remains committed to promoting collaborative learning with government agencies, civil society, and communities—both domestically and internationally—to ensure that every child is cared for, protected, and supported to reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
