On 3 December 2025, Mrs Rosalin Kowae, National Director of World Vision Foundation of Thailand, visited Sathing Phra District in Songkhla Province to monitor the progress of the Southern Floods Response 2025 Project and to encourage affected families and frontline staff on the ground.
During the visit, the team met with sponsored children’s families, schools, and communities to deliver urgent assistance, assess the situation, and identify unmet needs. This ensures that support reaches children, families, and communities appropriately, especially the most vulnerable groups severely impacted by the disaster.
Mrs Rosalin Kowae, National Director of World Vision Foundation of Thailand, said:
“What we have witnessed since day one is not only homes disappearing under water, but also the fear and insecurity facing thousands of children. Many young children were forced to flee their homes in the middle of the night without understanding what was happening. Parents were deeply worried about how to protect their children as floodwaters continued to rise, particularly families with elderly members or persons with disabilities who could not evacuate on their own.”
“Many people had to move into temporary shelters, while others could not find a safe place to stay. Some went without food for several days. World Vision Foundation of Thailand has been working with partners, 10 shelters, and local churches in Songkhla to provide food and essential supplies, set up community kitchens, and organise recreational activities to support the mental well-being of children staying in shelters. Right now, people want to return home more than anything. Children want to go back to school. Access to basic household items, safe housing, and education is critical to help communities return to normal and ensure children can resume learning as quickly and safely as possible.”
In the initial response phase, World Vision Foundation of Thailand has delivered assistance including food and essential items, established community kitchens, provided psychosocial support for children, distributed school supplies and begun planning for early recovery. This includes repairing damaged homes and schools, conducting disaster risk reduction training to strengthen community preparedness and assessing additional needs to adjust long-term recovery plans accordingly.
“The generosity of the public is the driving force that enables vulnerable children to regain a sense of normalcy. Every contribution helps families cope with the devastating impact of this disaster and start anew after losing everything. Together, we will ensure that no one is left behind.” — Mrs Rosalin Kowae.
World Vision Foundation of Thailand extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who has played a vital role in delivering this assistance. Collaboration across all sectors is essential to help children and families rebuild their lives with safety, stability, and hope for a fresh start.
