Pfizer Thailand Foundation and World Vision Thailand continue serving the community

Supporting clean water, a fundamental right for a better quality of life

Safe and hygienic drinking water is a fundamental human right. The lack of clean water affects human dignity, security, and health. However, when water resources become scarce, contaminated, or difficult to access, food security can be compromised, livelihoods affected, and conflicts may eventually arise.

In early March 2025, Pfizer Thailand Foundation, in collaboration with World Vision Thailand, organised the event “Pfizer (Care to Share) Muan Jai @ Omkoi” to support clean drinking water filtration systems for schools, child care centres, and communities in Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province.

Mr. Thammarak Boonmuang, Board Member of the Pfizer Thailand Foundation, said, “This is the second year that the Pfizer Thailand Foundation has had the opportunity to support health care for the Omkoi community. Previously, we donated two ‘Pfizer First-aid Centers’ and this time, we are implementing the Pfizer (Care to Share) Muan Jai @ Omkoi project to support clean drinking water filtration systems for children. We hope that this will help children and the community have access to sufficient clean water, which is an important foundation for hygiene and a good quality of life.”

Kanok Srireang, Programme Manager – Chiang Mai Province, World Vision Thailand, added, “This community still lacks clean drinking water. Most villagers rely on rainwater and natural water sources for consumption, which may be contaminated with pathogens that cause gastrointestinal diseases and other illnesses. The support of water filtration systems is an important step to help improve villagers’ health.”

In addition to supporting water filtration systems, volunteers from Pfizer Thailand Foundation also organised activities to educate about the use of household medicines and health care in highland areas. They also brought prizes that create fun for children, providing knowledge, opportunities, happiness, and smiles to children in the community.

Mr Lertwit Ketchart, Business Partner, Pfizer Thailand Foundation, said, “I am pleased to be part of this activity. We aimed to bring knowledge about the use of medicines and local diseases for children to learn. We also learned that school students still lack educational materials and personal items, so we collected donations from fellow employees to give to children. We hope these will be beneficial for their studies and daily life.”

Kanok Srireang concluded, “Thank you to Pfizer Thailand Foundation for supporting the community development efforts of World Vision Thailand, from donating Pfizer First-aid Centers to supporting clean water filtration systems this time. We hope to have the opportunity to collaborate again in the future to create sustainable change for the community.”

This project is another example of a collaboration that truly benefits the community, reinforcing the commitment of both organisations to work together in social development. Particularly, it ensures clean water and good hygiene, which is part of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 6) – Ensure access to water and sanitation for all.

With the collaboration of all sectors, we believe that children and communities in Omkoi will have the opportunity to live in a better environment, with good health and a brighter future ahead.
