In the world where natural and human-made disasters can occur at any time, preparing and raising awareness among children and youth is a critical ministry that the World Vision Foundation of Thailand has consistently prioritised—especially in high-risk areas like Ratchaburi Province, which borders the national frontier and faces vulnerabilities in both economic and environmental aspects.
On June 23, 2025, World Vision Thailand collaborated with Ratchaburi Primary Education Service Area Office 1 and Ratchaburi Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office to organise the ‘Basic Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Workshop for Educational Institutes’ at Paksa Sawan Auditorium, Ratchaburi Primary Education Service Area Office 1. This project not only focuses on theoretical knowledge but also emphasises hands-on practice. A total of 165 teachers and educational personnel participated in the training to prepare for potential disasters such as floods, storms, fires, and earthquakes.
This event was honoured by Mr Kritchata Donkratok, Deputy Director of Ratchaburi Primary Education Service Area Office 1, who presided over the opening ceremony. Also in attendance were Dr Supakrit Attavadhanadol, Digital Technology & Services Division Manager and DPO; Mr Sumpun Krobkrajok, Humanitarian Emergency Affairs Specialist, World Vision Thailand; disaster prevention officers from Ratchaburi Municipality; and other distinguished guests.
Additionally, World Vision Thailand provided fire extinguishers to 20 under-resourced schools in Suan Phueng District to equip them with basic emergency response tools.
Following the training, participants and their educational institutes are expected to develop emergency response plans using the knowledge and experience gained. These plans will be shared with school administrators, teachers, and students, integrated into the curriculum, and extended to community partnerships to build a safety network. This collaborative approach is key to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the project.
As a Christian humanitarian development organisation, World Vision Foundation of Thailand remains committed to supporting vulnerable children and underserved communities regardless of race, religion, or gender. This project marks another significant step toward creating a safe environment for over 32,000 children in Ratchaburi Province, enabling them to learn, grow, and build a secure future. The goal is for every child to grow up safely and equally.
