For more than 27 years, World Vision Foundation of Thailand has been committed to community development in Wiang Kaen District, Chiang Rai Province, through Phaya Phiphak Project. What has taken place is not merely sponsorship and assistance, but the creation of opportunities and empowerment for children, families, and communities to achieve sustainable self-reliance.
Through collaboration across all sectors, the project has sponsored more than 4,585 children and supported over 4,226 families in improving their quality of life. It has promoted development in multiple dimensions. In education, children and youths have gained access to higher levels of learning, secured employment, and are now able to support themselves and their families. In terms of family relationships, initiatives such as the Celebrating Families programme, parenting education, child protection, and activities that nurture positive family bonds have helped strengthen households. Community development efforts have also enhanced resilience to challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters. In addition, a range of other initiatives have empowered the community in diverse ways.
All of these represent the development ministry that World Vision Foundation of Thailand has committed to the Phaya Phiphak community — a vital foundation for driving sustainable progress.
On 10 September 2025, the Phaya Phiphak Project of World Vision Foundation of Thailand hosted a knowledge-sharing and celebration event to mark the successful conclusion of the project. The atmosphere was filled with warmth, pride, and collaboration from all parties. The event featured exhibitions and showcases reflecting the project’s achievements, including vocational skills promotion for students, youth leadership capacity-building initiatives, artworks created by former sponsored children, and performances by local students.
The event was presided over by Mr Yotpong Tulachom, Senior Deputy District Chief of Wiang Kaen. Also in attendance were Mr Noraset Melaskamon, Chief Executive of Po Sub-district Administrative Organisation; Mr Nu Phongnawaboon, Chairperson of the project committee; Mrs Rosalin Kowae, National Director of World Vision Foundation of Thailand; along with other executives and distinguished guests.
Mr Nu Phongnawaboon, Chairperson of the project committee, said: “Over the past 27 years, thousands of children and families have received sponsorship and support, enabling them to improve their quality of life and achieve sustainable self-reliance. Today marks an important step in passing on this ministry to the community and relevant agencies, to continue developing Phaya Phiphak as a self-reliant area.”
Mr Yotpong Tulachom, Senior Deputy District Chief of Wiang Kaen, added: “What World Vision Foundation of Thailand has done throughout the years has created opportunities and improved the quality of life for children, families, and communities. It has also supported government efforts in education and the development of stable livelihoods. I would like to thank the staff, volunteers, and all sectors involved. I am pleased to continue this ministry in partnership with the community, so that this area may grow strong and sustainably.”
On this occasion, World Vision Foundation of Thailand officially handed over its development ministry to government agencies, local administrative organisations, and civil society, to continue the growth of Phaya Phiphak Community into a strong and sustainable community.
