Anti-human trafficking is mainly led by the integrated working of several sectors such as, governmental sector, private sector, civil society organization, local organization and international network, etc.
World Vision Thailand, as part of the USAID Thailand Counter Trafficking in Persons Project sponsored by Winrock International and USAID, plays a key role in capacity building for multidisciplinary team (MDT) and service providers. Our initiatives focus on law adjudication, regulations, SOP and action plan development. The capacity building effort aims to strengthen practices of National Referral Mechanism (NRM) by adhering to a Victim-Centered Approach, which is one of core principles of the NRM. In addition, we also collaborate with educational institutions to conduct researches that enhance understanding of human-trafficking trends and legal adjudication. The researches ultimately inform more accurate and effective actions.
In our effort to build the capacity of labor inspectors, World Vision Thailand organized a training session in Sa Kaeo. This training centered on SOP for initial victim screening of presumed victims of forced labor and labor trafficking, addressing the section 6/1 of the Anti-Human Trafficking Act (B.E. 2551) and its amendments (B.E. 2562). We trained 20 labor inspecting officials by Command Center of Prevention on Labour of the Ministry of Labor, the key governmental organization responsible for developing this SOP.
According to 2024 Trafficking in Persons Report, one of prioritized recommendations for Thailand stating: “Train officials on and ensure effective implementation of Section 6/1 of the anti-trafficking law and identification of labor trafficking victim.”. This training not only strengthens official’s capacity in Sa Kaeo, but also aligns with these recommendations, helping us meet the minimum standards for protecting both Thai and non-Thai victims living in Thailand in accordance with the human rights principles.
