This Memorandum of Cooperation focuses on strengthening literacy skills—reading and writing—among students in Grades 1–6, which form a fundamental foundation for learning across all subject areas and serve as a critical basis for the long-term development of learners’ potential. The key objectives of the Memorandum are as follows:
To enhance the quality of education for primary school students in Omkoi District by ensuring they attain literacy skills in accordance with the standards set by the Basic Education Core Curriculum.
To develop the competencies of teachers, equipping them with the knowledge, capabilities, and instructional skills necessary to effectively promote students’ reading and writing proficiency.
To strengthen collaboration between educational agencies and civil society, fostering the joint development of learning innovations that are appropriate to the context of marginalised and remote areas.
As part of the event, the “Literacy Development Activity Plans” of all 15 schools were presented, providing a platform for mutual learning and exchange. These plans will be further adapted and applied to concretely enhance teaching and learning management within each school.
World Vision Foundation of Thailand is committed to promoting equitable access to quality education for all children, with a particular focus on those living in remote areas, children from vulnerable families, and those facing barriers to accessing the formal education system. In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4: Quality Education), the Foundation seeks to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all, while promoting lifelong learning opportunities that enable every child to reach their full potential.
The Foundation’s education initiatives place strong emphasis on strengthening foundational skills essential for long-term learning, particularly literacy and critical thinking, alongside the development of age-appropriate skills and competencies for children and youth. These efforts aim to support continuous learning and holistic development, while fostering safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments that nurture children’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being.
At the same time, World Vision Foundation of Thailand proactively implements its strategic mission on education and life skills development to prevent and address school dropout. This is achieved through close collaboration with children and youth, parents and caregivers, teachers, and community networks to identify children at risk, provide timely follow-up and support, and facilitate their appropriate reintegration into the education system. In parallel, the Foundation promotes alternative learning opportunities and strengthens life skills, vocational skills, and essential competencies for the 21st century, equipping children and youth with the ability to adapt to change, build resilience, and access future economic opportunities.
Through participatory and multi-stakeholder approaches, World Vision Foundation of Thailand strives to ensure that children and youth receive holistic education and life skills development. These efforts aim to empower them to move toward a secure future, grow into responsible and valued members of society, and contribute meaningfully to the sustainable development of their communities and the nation.
