For the past 20 years, media executive, producer, and influencer ‘Ms. Piyawadee Maleenont (Tu)’ has remained committed to child sponsorship through World Vision Foundation of Thailand, guided by her belief that education is a form of support that can create lasting change.
Upon receiving a commemorative plaque honoring her 20 years of support for sponsored children, Ms. Piyawadee shared that her greatest joy comes not only from giving a child an opportunity, but also from giving children opportunities, but also from seeing the value of education and their growth. “I am delighted for the children that people recognize the value of education. To me, the most sustainable way to help is through education. Each child can build on the opportunity they receive and use it to improve their life in ways that go far beyond one-time financial assistance.”
She sees child sponsorship as more than financial assistance—it is an investment in the future of children and society. With access to appropriate education, children can grow into capable, self-reliant adults and contribute to society in the future. Ms. Piyawadee also shared a message for sponsored children, noting that although sponsors and children may never meet in person, their care and encouragement continue to reach one another through World Vision Foundation of Thailand.
“I want every child to know that there are many people ready to encourage you and give you opportunities. Make the most of every opportunity you receive.”
One of Ms. Piyawadee’s most meaningful experiences has been seeing formerly sponsored children grow up, graduate, and establish stable careers. Some have even returned to work with or support the foundation, becoming the next generation of supporters. “It fills me with pride. I feel as though I have played a part in developing capable individuals who can contribute to the country.”
As a public figure, executive, and social media content creator, Ms. Piyawadee is committed to using every platform available to communicate the importance of providing educational opportunities for children. She believes the best way to help people is to empower them to stand on their own—and that education is the foundation for achieving this goal. “I try to share these messages through various media channels because I want to support sustainable solutions that create career opportunities and enable them to become self-reliant in the future.”
She also noted that a monthly contribution that may seem small to a sponsor can make an enormous difference in a child’s life. For this reason, she encourages everyone to help create opportunities for children—whether through sponsorship, donations, well wishes, or other forms of encouragement. She believes emotional support is encouragement is especially valuable in today’s world, where everyone faces different challenges.
“An expense that may seem insignificant to us can be enormously valuable to a child. What we consider a small contribution can have an enormous impact on a child’s life. Sometimes, a few words of encouragement or even a single letter can make a huge difference in their ability to keep going.”
